Research for learning is all about becoming the most familiar with your topic as humanly possible. Goldthwaite says that one should immerse ones self in their research and allow that subject to become the center of your world. You are trying to get as much information as you can for your topic, so your presentation of this information can be as informed as possible. She uses the example of her friend Emick and her research with hangnails.

Research for Inspiration is seen as looking at almost anything and drawing research from it. Goldthwaite talks about how you can look at something as generic as a phonebook, like Juliet Williams, and get the name of a character for your story. She also mentions how you may draw inspiration from an overheard conversation or even a line from someone else’s story, such as her example of Emily Dickenson.

My last project mostly involved me doing Research for Enriching Memoirs. My personal narrative took shape through talking to one of the fellow children in the story, Douglas. He and I discussed these memories and how everything took place, and he added key details that I would’ve forgotten if it weren’t for me talking to him.

The three genres I chose to do were a poster, a social media page, and a YouTube video. For my poster, I did research for details because I looked up examples of eye-appealing posters and used these ideas to help spur my creation forward. For the YouTube video, I would also say I did research for details by watching other videos and using tactics that others use in my own video. Drawing inspiration from others is key to creating something unique and brilliant. Lastly, for the social media page, I did research for writing by looking through my own work and drawing inspiration and things to say from my essay.
